Nature is MORPHO’s number one inspiration in all its perfection and imperfection. With its contemporary Art Nouveau approach, the brand finds inspiration in nature’s patterns, colours and materials, seamlessly blending the tranquility of the natural world with the functionality ofmodern design. The organic designs by Belgian Art Nouveau architects such as Victor Hortaand Spanish Modernista architect Antoní Gaudí were indispensable inspirations in this process.
For MORPHO’s first collection, a fantastical dragonfly has served as the main source of inspiration. In the signature chair, we see the pattern of the creature’s wings reflected in the delicate metal detailing. The bar stool echoes the shape of its wings, and nods to the wing’s motif can be found in the metal detailing of the single sunbed, as well as the embroidery on the leather back of the lounge chair.
The second main influence for this launch are the roots and branches of trees. Their organic shapes, twists and turns provided the main source of inspiration for the collection’s table, lounge bed, sun loungers and planters. Voronoi patterns found all around nature inspired the tabletop in natural stone.
The flowing woodwork and metal frames accentuating the designs in this collection are a testament to artisan’s knowhow and craftsmanship.
